BATS Pop-Up Pub was conceived as a way to provide our members with opportunities to keep in touch between our two big shows each year.

It is also a casual space for our members (new and old) to experiment with their talents (acting, directing, writing) through low-key, limited-commitment projects—and keep their passion alive without overwhelming their family or work lives.

BATS Theatre is an English-speaking, international amateur theatre group in Stavanger, Norway. It was founded in 1985 as a non-profit organization. BATS produces 2-4 shows each year. We are most known for our annual panto in the British style. We also perform other types of comedy and dramas, particularly original works from local playwrights.

BATS Pop-Up Pub theater began to take form in 2024. Our first Pop-Up evening was in 2025, the year BATS celebrated its 40th Anniversary..

Pop-Up Community Values

BATS Theatre is an international, English-speaking, amateur theatre group in Stavanger, Noway.

  1. Performances are in English (or are silent/gibberish), with the exception of our occasional Spotlight segment. The Spotlight gives our members an opportunity to perform in their first language.

  2. A least 1 participant in the play is a member of BATS.

  3. Collaboration is central to community theater: every performance should be a collective effort of the actor(s), director, and a writer.

  4. Only scheduled works are performed on Pop-Up nights. Rights to the scripts must be secured in writing and sent to the producer prior to booking.

  5. Scenes should be between 2 and 12 minutes. Reach out to participate! (You know you want to – and we want you to!)

We strive to maintain BATS established environment of respect and kindness, where we check our egos at the door and ensure everyone feels valued.
    .
    Welcome!

    Ren, Phil, and Nic.
